Personality:

Everyone at school knows Jun as a shy girl who never speaks. For the most part, they're completely right. Jun won't talk under normal circumstances. Speaking makes her stomach hurt and it's not worth it usually.  When interacting with others, Jun prefers to keep them at arm's length. That's just the sort of person she is. She's a docile individual who's awkward in every sense of the word.  Her mother and peers see this trait as problematic. "What good is a child who can't speak?" is something they say. Not being able to communicate easily is frustrating.  Even so, Jun still tries her best to convey her thoughts through other means. Every so often she will enunciate her feelings using body language.  Takumi notices that Jun is very emotional.  It's not hard to tell what she's thinking at any given time in spite of her circumstances.

In many ways, Jun is childish. She chooses to blame her medical condition on a fantasy creature in the shape of an egg. Supposedly the egg cursed her and forbids speech. In reality, all of that stuff never happened. Jun merely creates reasons and excuses with her own imagination the way a child would. Her active imagination never left and it's still present at school. Takumi never judges her for this, but the idea is still a bit too wild for someone her age.

To understand how Jun ended up this way one must look at her childhood. As a kid Jun, was talkative and cheerful. She was a very normal girl with a large amount of energy. She paints over her boring daily life with fairy tale imagery. One day everything she knew changed. Jun witnessed her father commit adultery. Believing herself to be the reason why he would do something like that, Jun shut herself up permanently. She's absolutely terrified of saying something careless. This is why she ends up being so quiet and timid. Jun is an individual who is tormented by the past and can't move on from it. Her mind is forever trapped at that moment where she failed her family.

It would be a lie to say that she isn't attempting to move past her trauma. She opens up to her friends gradually and tells them what happened in her childhood.  Eventually, Jun learns that the past isn't her fault. From that point onward she mature slowly. Jun starts participating in school more and breaks out of her shell.  She even signs up to be the main heroine of the school musical despite her shyness. Then she discovers a newfound joy of music. By using sound she is able to speak her mind in ways she never imagined. Music becomes her main method of communication. Singing doesn't make her stomach hurt the way talking does.

Another thing to learn is that Jun is somewhat moody. She can change from being happy to sad in a matter of seconds. This could be the result of having all of her emotions bundled up inside for so long. It always seems like she's about to burst at any moment. Jun frequently cries alone  and will attempt to escape if anyone catches her in this state. It's embarrassing to see a girl cry after all. Her feelings are only understandable as she's a human with faults. Jun is far from being perfect.  She struggles with many things and tries to make the most out of it.

The most surprising thing to learn about Jun is that she's reckless. After school her classmates argue among themselves and that's when Jun intervenes. It's a shocking action on her part.  Sometimes she would force herself to yell even if it's painful. Takumi even sends Jun to the hospital for her condition. The way she pushes herself is very worrying.  It's not exactly a good idea to leave Jun unattended when she gets this way. She's prone to stubbornness and carelessness.

Still, there's no denying that Jun loves Takumi. He was the person who saved her. Thanks to his support, she's able to become a stronger person. Jun realized that Takumi doesn't love her back and won't fault him for it. Instead, they simply remain friends. She's grateful for her classmates help nonetheless. It is difficult for people to overcome struggles alone. Jun learns this the hard way with Takumi.

Jun's story is all about wanting to say things and not being able to. She never takes words for granted and is very careful when she interacts with others. At her core, Jun is just a timid soul who is tortured by regret and fear. She learns to move past it on her own terms.
